Pretend Race Cars

Founded by Canadian commentator and writer Austin Ogonoski in Edmonton, Alberta, Pretend Race Cars is an independent alternative sim racing publication and archive dedicated to unfiltered investigative journalism, satirical critiques, and critical reviews across PC and console racing titles. Designed as a counter-narrative to mainstream gaming media, the site covered major franchises including iRacing, Assetto Corsa, Project CARS, rFactor, and Gran Turismo alongside community reader submissions and developer deep-dives. The publication also produced the 8:10 Podcast and its 'Blurring the Line' interview series with real-world motorsport drivers before Ogonoski transitioned to long-form YouTube video essays and game industry consulting.
